Co-founder and Secretary-General of Europe-Uzbekistan Association for Economic Cooperation (EUROUZ), Founder and Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of East-West Group Oybek Shaykhov shared his knowledge and experience on doing business with the students of AKFA University.
Mr. Oybek Shaykhov visited AKFA University within the project AKFA Business School Guest Speaker Series, initiated by the AKFA Business School.
Oybek Shaykhov is a graduate of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (bachelor’s degree), International School of Management (master’s degree), Columbia Business School and Saïd Business School (SBS) of Oxford University.
He is the founder of East-West Group – an international group of companies engaged in such sectors as engineering, petrochemical, energy, and oil/gas industry, telecoms and IT sectors.
Mr Shaykhov is also Co-founder and Secretary-General of Europe-Uzbekistan Association for Economic Cooperation, which is an international not-for-profit business association project established with the support of the Uzbekistan Government and the European business community to develop a new mechanism for collaboration, trade promotion, and closer dialogue on all levels between Europe and Uzbekistan.
The guest was welcomed by the rector of AKFA University Bekhzod Djalilov and Dean of AKFA Business School Dr. Odiljon Abdurazzakov.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospective areas of cooperation between the university and Europe-Uzbekistan Association for Economic Cooperation, including establishing cooperation with the European universities, attracting of foreign professors, training of local specialists, cooperation within the joint projects.
Afterwards, Oybek Shaykhov familiarized himself with the new campus of the universities and conditions created for students and staff members.
Secretary-General of EUROUZ met with the sophomore students of the AKFA Business School. During the meeting, he briefed the students about the EUOUZ, his career development and shared his advice with the students on personal development and doing business.
In particular, the guest advises students to develop their communication skills, which will help them both in life and business. Oybek Shaykhov also recommended selecting the right mentors, who will assist students to grow and share information on business pitfalls.
He underlined that it is important to build networks and partnerships. He said that for example, the students can partner in the future to launch their joint projects.
Another important piece of advice was to be open to people and help them if they have questions or need some help.
At the end of the meeting, Oybek Shaykhov answered to the questions of the students.
